Hormann Garage Doors were founded in Germany in the 1930’s by August Hormann who began it by manufacturing steel doors in his metalworking shop. His motto for the company at the very start was “A good name must be earned” and this has been something that has carried the company to where it has gotten today. After World War 2, August’s son, Hermann Hormann, reestablished the company and began manufacturing new doors which expedited their growth. He introduced a whole new door type called the “Berry” and sold over 8 million models worldwide. After that he introduced the sectional door in the 60’s which again grew the company exponentially. In modern times, Hormann Garage Doors has expanded to manufacturing a multitude of residential and commercial doors such as roller doors, folding doors, fire protection doors, high performance doors, openers and controls, loading dock equipment, man doors in interior and exterior applications as well as canopies and frames; many of which tailored to national requirements. In 2002, Hormann Garage Doors expanded into the United States by planting a sales company and then much later on added manufacturing and distribution across the United States. In the late 2000’s, Hormann Garage Doors bought out GADCO door manufacturing and added to their wide variety of doors that they sell.They are one of the largest garage door manufacturers in the world and still hold themselves to maintain their high German quality and continue to innovate.
